hi folks,
picked up a good book called "the enemies of rome" (author: philip matyszak). it really is about a number of leaders who where a nuisance to rome, throughout the empire, from about 250 bc to the fall of rome.
there are 17 protagonists, each one has about 10-25 pages dedicated to him, with the book split into 4 groups and an introduction to each section.
section I: hannibal, philip v, viriathus, jugurtha,
section II: mithradates, spartacus, vercingetorix, orodes II, cleopatra,
section III: arminius, boudicca, josephus, decabulus,
section IV: shapur I, zenobia, alaric, atilla,
overall, the book is about 300 pages, i found it compelling, well written and frankly couldn't put it down. i quickly have found good wikipedia entries for each.
