Musket fireing formation 101.

I was just in a game vs muskets and I see the guys didnt have there muskets in proper fireing formation.

For maximum fireing power make sure they are in a doubl line formation (not loose) and keep all units out of there way as that will cause them not to fire proper.No other formation will fire faster than the 2 row, here is why..

example 60 men fireing in 2 row....30 fire while 30 reload
3 row formation.....20 fire, 20 reload, 20 do nothing
4 row......15 fire, 15 reload, and 30 do nothing

i usally take them off skirmish and also take them off fire at will and put them on guard.

muskets work MUCH better if put in skirmish mode, this is becose each man picks his own target instead of fireing in volleys, increasing rate of fire at the whole unit doesnt hav to be prepared before people can begin fireing, also, it results in a continuous rate of fire without having to reform for each shot, saveing time, and against musketters in line formation they will be trying to reform continuously due to their continuous rate of casualties, decreasing their rate of fire
