PostSubject: Pazu's Previews   Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:28 pm

I thought id use this thread to inform the Imperators and anyone else interested in some things to come in DDO

Half Orcs

The next big content update will include Half Orcs. In Paper and Pencil D&D, the main appeal of Half Orcs is their strength bonus (stats are +2 Str, -2 Cha). While Dwarves make good tanks (can take damage), Half Orcs make good berserkers (specialize in dishing out damage). Traditionally Half Orcs make good Fighters, Barbarians, and Clerics. One of the appeals of the Half Orcs coming to DDO is the ability to customize the tusks. This is something that I personally am looking forward to.

(I think this will be something that Boru in particular would enjoy Wink )

Will post more info later Very Happy

Theyll probably release half elves at the same time as the Half Orcs, although i think Half Orcs will be more popular to play as, namely because Half Elves are basically just Elves without the stat changes geek

The Druid

"The fury of a storm, the gentle strength of the morning sun, the
cunning of the fox, the power of the bear—all these and more are at
the druid’s command. The druid however, claims no mastery over
nature. That claim, she says, is the empty boast of a city dweller. The
druid gains her power not by ruling nature but by being at one with
it. To trespassers in a druid’s sacred grove, and to those who feel her
wrath, the distinction is overly fine."
(Player's Handbook)

In Paper and Pencil D&D, the Druid is the ultimate master of nature and quintessential for campaigns that take place in a natural setting. Their powers and abilities revolve entirely around it.

The Druids are proficient in most of the weapons of the cleric, and they have the ability to cast Divine Spells and have a powerful animal companion.

Their main appeal, however, is the Wild Shape ability. This allows them to take the form of an animal at first, then a plant or elemental later on. In PnP D&D this is very helpful for sneaking past enemies or gathering info. It also allows them to use the attacks and abilities of their new form, which can be very interesting.

Druids tend to multiclass well with rangers, barbarians and even bards. They tend to compliment the abilities of a front line fighter much in the same way as Clerics do.

It will be interesting to see how they are presented in DDO. Granted, they probably wont be released until late 2010, but it is something im looking forward to none the less.
