PostSubject: The point of my Peasants   Sun Nov 16, 2008 11:02 am

I have been asked numerous times now as to why I bring peasants into battle with me as they are a "waste of cash." Let me explain their invaluable contribution.

My peasants are used for two reasons. The first is to absorb arrows so that my archers dont have to. (Remember I am a skirmisher and offensively minded.) My peasants next job is to stop cavalry charges and infantry charges from hitting my archers and my infantry and my cavalry, thus protecting that main killing force of my army. Their final job is more of a last ditch effort when my infantry is failing, they are to go around the flank and surround the enemy infantry while my heavy infantry (Men at Arms, Armoured Swordsmen and the like) hold their front. This may seem like it is a futile attempt but 60 men (times any variable of peasants you have) behind you is a scary thing (major morale loss) no matter how inferior of troops they are.

Those are the reasons why I have my peasants in battle, and while the style might not fit you its how I play and have met success. If I have persuaded you about the invaluable use of peasants then welcome to the club, if not then that is fine as well.

Ya i agree with you. Im gonna start using peasants from now on. Tired of my archers absorbing the front line cav charge.

Everything you said is true. Them absorbeing the cav's bonus on charge is very important. Not to mention when you have peasents on youre own flanks that will in turn help youre mens morale as they feel there flanks are protected.

a toast to our brave peasents *raises glass and toast the peasents*

Agreed, a toast to the peasants. *raises a glass*

Sithis the honor is mutual, I would happily fight by your side and should the gods see fit triumph. Or die trying.
